Tango in Belgie / Tango en Belgique
The first milonga of the year in El Dorado and while quite a lot of people are trying to quit smoking in the New Year, others on the other hand took up smoking next to the dance floor. We had grown used to the unwritten code that, except for La Cellule, all tango venues around Brussels are smoke free, but apparently we’ll have to start reminding people about that. I, for one, get very annoyed about that.
The new edition of the Brussels Tango festival has been announced! In less than 3 months we can all rejoice in 5 days of tango workshops and salons: Thursday April 2nd until Sunday April 6th.
In the list of visiting maestros we see a lot of familiar names and some new ones: Cecilia Garcia & Horacio Godoy / Gaia Pisauro & Leandro Furlan / Mariella Sametband & Pablo Inza / Marisa van Andel & Oliver Koch / Paula Rubin & Mariano Galeano / Sigrid Van Tielburg & Mazen Kiwan / Dana Frigoli & Pablo Villarraza.

La Tangueria hosted a great New Year’s Party to guide us from 2008 into 2009, which of course is supposed to be a much better year than the previous. After the abundant dinner with food brought by the guests, tables were removed from the dance floor and all the calories were transformed into tango pleasure. My best St Sylvester in years!
