Tango Quizzz n°16

TANGO QUIZZZ, Which tango musician introduced a harp in his orquestra ?
The answer was OSVALDO FRESEDO, congratulations to Daniel Rsi for giving the right answer !

Osvaldo Fresedo was definitely an innovator, trying to define his own style, in the continuation of Julio De Caro.
The typical tango sextet in 1920 was composed of :
* two bandoneons
* two violins
* one piano
* one double bass
“El Pibe de la Paternal” (Fresedo’s nickname) added a harp and a vibraphone, in a very subtle and delicate manner, giving him a very smooth sound.
You can hear the harp clearly acompanying the piano at the beginning of Isla de Capri, with Roberto Ray :

or in Como aquella princesa

ADDENDUM : A harp was also present in the orquestra of Florindo Sassone and Mario Melfi ! Thanks Jens-Ingo Brodesser for the precision !
