With a suitcase of misery at their feet, an immigrant from the mainland dreamt of a new departure, a new start. Through a century of tango music, the Soltango quartet paints its own universes. Torn between the extremes of sorrow and longing, of resignation and rage, of passion and love, the dream reveals itself; it constructs and deconstructs itself; it is a dream that evolves through the danced scenes of a fresco divided into the various facets/faces of the search for the ideal but knocked down by a city that breathes too fast!
Vincent Morelle, a deserved tango legend in Europe and beyond, has been working on a new tango performance and it premiers in Gent on 21 Sept: Terra Tango (on FB). It features live music by Cuarteto SolTango, a lot of familiar faces – Odile from In-senso, Andres & Rashid – Brussels tango teachers, and of course the amazing tango performers Maryline & Vincent. “Vincent is explosive, he loves chaos, often losing himself in the infinitely big; Maryline inspires this explosiveness, moulds it, often becoming absorbed by the infinitely small… Here lies the balance between the two … They are connected by invisible threads and they are carried away in spellbinding dance, in free fall …”
Don’t miss it!
