This weekend: Tango Folies

This weekend there will be a series of workshops, presentations and a milonga under the flag of “Tango Folies”, to celebrate the retirement of Fedor Villafane. If you have been dancing for less than 10 years, this name might not ring a bell, but Fedor has played an important role in the development of tango in Brussels and Belgium. This is why a lot of the current active teachers like Sergio & Gisela, Oliver & Marisa also participate in the festivities.

Saturday starts with masterclasses and ends with a symposium on the history and other aspects of tango. On Sunday more workshops in the morning and in the afternoon first an initiation, then a demo by his pupils, with amongst them a lot of current teachers, tango concerts, an award ceremony and at 20h, a milonga with DJ Dirk. This is an ideal occasion to learn about the early days of tango in Belgium, meet the people that helped it mature to its current state and dance in a new setting (the ULB campus Solbosch).
