Which singer is considered the initiator of the Tango canción ?
The answer was CARLOS GARDEL ! He is said to be the initiator of the “sung tango”, el Tango Canción.

It’s not that before him, there was no singers, but they were called “estribillistas”, and they usually used very basic, short and repetitive lyrics.
In 1917 the poet Pascual Contursi wrote “Mi Noche Triste” which a more developed story (with a beginning and an end) and a real esthetic approach. Carlos Gardel loved it, and this was the birth of the “sung tango”
