On Saturday 6th of May before La Milonguita, Sonja and Sven will be teaching a workshop on forward boleos.

DURING THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL LEARN:
- How to lead and follow the forward boleo.
- How the leader can provoke the boleo instead of forcing the follower
- How to maintain the balance as a follower throughout the complex boleo movement.

What is a forward boleo?
Boleo comes from the verb bolear, to throw. The verb is also the root of the word bolo, the gaucho lariat made of three lengths of rope tied together and weighted at the free ends with a stone or other weight. Gauchos throw it sideways and it wraps around the target, capturing it. Boleo may have been inspired by the word bolo, since a boleo is lead by reversing an ocho, causing the follower to wrap her free leg around her knee.

The boleo is an embellishment caused by the 'whip' action of the follower, executed when an ocho is quickly reversed in the middle. The follower's free leg is thrown to the side and wraps around her leg at the knee. It is considered an embellishment because the follower forces her pelvis to disassociate from her upper half during the rotation, allowing her free leg to be thrown up and around in a decorative flourish. It should be noted that the actual whipping action of the leg during a boleo is called the latigazo (lash).

We learn simple, elegant, musical and playful tango figures to dance smoothly on a social dance or "milonga".

We demonstrate and learn the moves in both open and closed embrace and you are free to choose which 'abrazo' you use during class.

We spend a lot of time on men's and women's technology, as well as the musicality of tango.

Our classes are suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced dancers. We unfold the figures in degree of difficulty with group instruction (1.5 h) and give full personal attention during the practica (0.5 h), where one can practice what is taught.

open level = 1.30 h of course + 30 min guided practica : for those who begin to learn tango or for those who want to improve their posture, the rhythm or review the basics.

Laura Lahera, born in La Plata, Argentina, studied at renowned Schools and conservatories both in La Plata and Buenos Aires and with classical singers Maria Fullin Mary Jordan. She sang contemporary classical music and performed at Theaters Colon and Cervantes. At the same time, she sang at many famous jazz and tango places in Buenos Aires, like the famous El Viejo Almacén. When the army dictatorship was at rage, she left her country and began touring as a jazz singer. She has since circled the globe via London, Israel, Holland, Hong Kong, Belgium, Tokyo and Estonia, among others, performing at renowned theaters, like Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Performing Art’s Theater (Hong Kong); Bozar (Brussels) and participated in many tango shows all over the world.

Darío Acosta Teich is an Argentinian guitar performer, composer and arranger born in the province of Tucuman, Argentina. He studied with recognized teachers and musicians in Tucumán, Buenos Aires and Europe. He performed in many prestigious theaters and Concert Halls in Argentina and around the world and participated in many festivals as a performer and as a composer. He is now finishing a Master in Jazz studies at the University of Jerusalem, Israel. His new album is being released in Berlin this month.

L'Album Tango Bohème du groupe de tango Bruxelles Aires Tango Orchestra sortira le 19 mai 2017 à la cellule 133 à Bruxelles (20h30). Une belle fête en perspective avec concert tango suivi d'un bal milonga avec DJ Dirk (De Brauwer) aux platines à partir de 22h30.

Cela fait près de cinq ans qu’ils tournent et font tourner les têtes avec leur délicieux tango argentin aux accents bohèmes. Monique Gelders (chant, accordéon), Josselin Moinet (violon, guitare), Dan Barbenel (piano, clarinette), Isaline Leloup (contrebasse) et Odimba Ghenda (perccussions) forment un quintette tango résolument atypique. Ca va tanguer !

Avec liberté et subtilité, Bruxelles Aires Tango Orchestra fait souffler un vent de fraicheur sur le tango et renoue avec le sens du spectacle et l’humour du cabaret théâtre. Résultat : qu’il soit ou non amateur de tango, qu’il aime danser ou rester sur son siège, le spectateur savoure un moment de poésie, de rire et de douceur. Comme une invitation au voyage…

Le voyage démarre dans le vieux port de Buenos Aires des années trente, avec les tangos, valses et milongas classiques de l’époque de Carlos Gardel. Il évolue ensuite vers un tango plus moderne, auquel Astor Piazzola a ouvert la voie. Au passage, il rend hommage à la musique des esclaves africains dont les rythmes ont influencé la naissance du tango.

Our classes are suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced dancers. We unfold the figures in degree of difficulty with group instruction (1.5 h) and give full personal attention during the practica (0.5 h), where one can practice what is taught.

Although we can propose a movement for each level, the aim is more to "coach" the participants in their personal tango dance. Like in a private class, we will work on the posture, connection, leading, following, musicality, technique, refinement, etc. rather than teaching a new figure.
Participants can of course also propose a theme or subject they would like to work.

'La Femme dans le Tango' : -Abrazo, Posture, Rythme & Adornos-

Céline Ruiz est une chorégraphe et danseuse de Tango reconnue pour ses qualités d interprète et d'enseignante.
Elle s est produite dans de nombreux festivals internationaux (Buenos Aires, Séoul, Paris, Bruxelles, Rome, Seattle, Istanbul), et dans de nombreux spectacles, citons "Tangos Clasicos" au Théâtre National de Chaillot en juin 2008.
En 1999, elle rencontre Damian Rosenthal, danseur argentin, avec lequel elle travaille en partenariat durant 14 ans, en Europe, aux Etats-Unis, en Asie et à Buenos Aires.
Céline Ruiz a fait partie de nombreuses compagnies de danse (Union Tanguera, All That Tango Dance Company, Compania Argentina).
En 2005, elle collabore notamment avec Richard Galliano aux Bouffes du Nord, pour la sortie de son double album en live.
En 2009, elle fonde avec Damian Rosenthal, sa propre compagnie, Not Tonight, et crée le spectacle, "Tango, Pulsacion n°1", pièce mêlant Tango argentin, théâtre et vidéo.
Depuis 2010, elle se produit régulièrement sur scène avec les orchestres Tanguisimo et Tanguarda.
Depuis 2014, elle travaille régulièrement avec le danseur et chorégraphe italien Alberto Colombo, tant en France qu'à l'étranger dans de nombreux stages et festivals. Ils ont notamment participé à la création du spectacle 'Tandem' en 2014-2015 à Milan, au théâtre Asteria.En décembre 2016, Celine Ruiz a chorégraphié un tango pour 2 comédiens dans la pièce "Les Amoureux" de Goldoni, jouée actuellement au théâtre Dejazet à Paris, jusqu'en Avril 2017.
Céline Ruiz travaille également en solo, et est sollicitée un peu partout en Europe (France, Italie, Allemagne) pour ses cours de Technique-Femme.

Detangosetrata invites CELINE RUIZ for a workshop of Tango Technique and Dance Tips for Women the 27 of May, due to the demand of the participants of the first part in February. Everybody is welcome to participate, no need to have joined the first part.
Recommended for beginners to get strong basics but equally for experienced tangueras to enhance their technique of dance and feminine elegancy in the Tango.

Tous les jeudis de l'année nous avons notre Milonga (Bal), le Patio de Tango. Notre milonga a lieu dans une des plus belles salles de Belgique, le Bouche à Oreille. Le parking est aisé. Nous programmons les meilleurs DJ's, de superbes démonstrations et les orquestas argentinas les plus importants, quand ils sont en tournée (pour le plaisir de danser avec la musique live).

L'ambiance y est toujours vraiment conviviale.

=> in 2 classes, the teachers will introduce some basic elements of Argentinian tango. A nice and quick way to discover if you could be contaminated by the tango virus, too... After this workshop, participants can continue directly in the weekly classes on Monday or Tuesday, or register for another Discovery workshop.
Level: initiation, no tango experience required, or for those who already did some classes or want to review the basics.
NB. The content of each Discovery workshop will be different and can be followed separately.

Prices:
- Tango Discovery (2 x 90 minutes): 30 € pp for 3 hours of workshop. Students: 25 € pp.

We learn simple, elegant, musical and playful tango figures to dance smoothly on a social dance or "milonga".

We demonstrate and learn the moves in both open and closed embrace and you are free to choose which 'abrazo' you use during class.

We spend a lot of time on men's and women's technology, as well as the musicality of tango.

Our classes are suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced dancers. We unfold the figures in degree of difficulty with group instruction (1.5 h) and give full personal attention during the practica (0.5 h), where one can practice what is taught.

open level = 1.30 h of course + 30 min guided practica : for those who begin to learn tango or for those who want to improve their posture, the rhythm or review the basics.

*** Personal advice and attention is given to each student.

115 euros for 10 lessons (membershipcard), 15 euros for an separate lesson.

Wooden floor, mirrors and daylight!!!
